I don’t know if I have asked you about this before but I am going crazy. I am really struggling to get any phlegm up, add that together with the dry mouth and throat and swallowing problem I sometimes feel I am struggling to breathe. I used to bring lots of phlegm up every day but now it just won’t budge.
I use my nebuliser regularly and I have an air purifier in my bedroom. I thought with all my chest problems, asthma and COPD that it would be the last thing I would need help with but apparently not. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lilian. There may now be little to bring up and all you have is swelling to irritate you. The phlegm does top away and often quite quickly...mine did. Give your CNS a ring to see if you can be seen to check why you are finding breathing difficult. Are you doing all you can for your dry mouth? Frequent small sips of water or fizzy drink, drinking 3 litres of water a day, chewing gum, using any of a number of mouth gels, bioxtra mouthwash, water spray? These are all the things you can try.
Hope it eases for you

Thanks for that Dani , I have lots of different mouth gels a n mouth washes, plus xylitol chewing gum but I have never been able to drink 3litres of water a day as I struggle with my swallowing. Some good news though, I got a phone call yesterday teatime offering me an appointment for my PET scan today at 5pm due to a cancellation so that is something I was pleased about but also nervous about , my anxiety has hit the roof but it is something that we need to know about.
I just hope I get the results pretty quickly though.
Thanks again for your help and being patient with me.

I have had a cold for 2 weeks and the last couple of days I have been running a fever and temperature.
I am taking soluble paracetamol but I am struggling to get even yogurt and semolina down.
I know that it will have to run its course but I have lost weight and I am concerned that if it doesn’t go away I will lose even more weight. I am literally drained and so weak and I would be grateful for any advice.
Thankyou Lillian xx

Hi Lillian you’ve come thus far don’t stress over stuff you’ve no control over. You can’t influence the results just remember you’ve dine all you can do. Results are usually available 7-10 days depends how often your mdt team meets. as Daninsays she had a hot spot but it was nothing in the end. Our cancers respond extremely well to treatment. Try to sip water as the day goes on are yiu still doing yiur exercises for mouth and throat u still do mine even now they are my life. Hugs and we will be with yiu during scan just close yiur eyes and think-pleasant thoughts.
