Hello again,
I've done my six weeks of radiotherapy, before that chemotherapy. From chemo I've had oral thrush ulcers, thick mucous etc. However I've now reacted to two thrush meds...Nystatin and fluconazole ! My mouth is still bad one week post radio and peg nurse said definitely thrush. GP has prescribed daktarin gel but having had two doses I think my bottom lip is looking puffy.
Is there anything else to clear this up, from what I've read it won't clear on its own.
Any advice muchly appreciated as mouth so sore and covered in spongy white areas and other weird and wonderful things.
How have you reacted? There are other drugs because it’s a common complaint with cancer therapy. Talk to your oncologist. I managed to avoid it during treatment but I do know that some folk need much longer treatment than the usual one week.

Hi I needed Flucozonole for 4 weeks to clear my thrush Daktarin gel did nothing for me apart from make it worse as far as I know Daktarin isn’t suitable for radiation induced oral thrush ny g p gave it me but my ent consultant said no. Speak to ŷur n s nurse or consultant. p/ oncologist .Nystatin likewise didn’t help me.

That’s quite common. Mother dearest says she had a reaction.

Hey there, I totally get how miserable oral thrush can be—I had it myself after a round of antibiotics and ended up using Diflucan (fluconazole), which worked really well for me. I ordered it from this pharmacy: health-delivery24.com/buy-diflucan-uk.html, and it was always great quality. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had bad reactions to both Nystatin and fluconazole though, that must be incredibly frustrating, especially after everything your body’s already been through with chemo and radiotherapy. If Daktarin gel is causing swelling too, you might want to ask your GP about clotrimazole troches (lozenges) or even gentian violet as a last resort—they're old-school but sometimes effective when the usual options fail. I’d also recommend rinsing with a mild saltwater or baking soda solution several times a day to soothe things and help keep the area clean. Big hugs—hang in there, it can get better.
