Hi all,
Just a little update. I had my 3 month review in March, still have a lump so had a PET scan couple of weeks ago.
Whilst waiting for the results, I got shingles! Absolutely floored me, 10 steps back, slept around the clock for a week. The rash is on my neck, where I had the RT, face and ear, shoulder and top of back. Of course it went on to get an infection, so I am still on antibiotics after the anti virals. I've never had chicken pox so thought I couldn't get shingles, but hey ho
Had a call from ENT this week with results of PET scan. There is still something there, but nothing they are concerned about, rescan in @ 2 months. However, it picked up something in my small bowel. He said he didn't think a camera would be able to get to it so was going to speak to the General Surgeon. I had a call later in the day with a telephone appointment for this Wednesday with the colon consultant. ENT said I would hear within 2 weeks, so a bit concerned I had the call so quick. It's difficult not to overthink it when you live alone, but I'm trying not to
For anybody just starting this journey, especially if you are on your own, make full use of Macmillans' services. Through Macmillan Join The Dots, I have done various workshops (not all are cancer related), been paired with a 'buddy' who rings me every week for a hour... this is for 12 weeks. Been provided with contacts for other assistance. They ring me regularly to see if I need anything else. Macmillan completed and submitted a PIP form for me. Cancer research UK have a cancer coach 6 week course, which has been great as well.
This would have been so much more difficult for me without Macmillan, including this community, I'm not sure I would have coped , I've not had the best service from NHS, and I've still a way to go. So thank you.
Love n hugs
Linda xx

Same happened to me. Instead I’d waiting for a rescan I had a biopsy. No cancer.
So best of luck xx
