Hi I had major mouth neck surgery and was out of hospital early February. in March my husband and main carer was hospitalised about 30 miles away with a heart attack. There was deep snow, the Junior Doctors went on strike, then he rang me to say two out of six people on ward had covid. I went out to collect some kindling in the snow, my neck hurt and I still couldnt eat properly but had to keep going. Probably my lowest point, I hope. Several weeks on and he is back out of hospital very weak with many pills, My neck still very stiff and sore and lump under neck and eating, well not too bad using quarter of my mouth. Still struggling to put on weight and now also trying to support Hubby. Between us we are struggling through chores. But Ive managed to cut down medication and sleeping pills. I can see spring is on the way and the main thing is for now I don't have cancer. I hope things will keep improving.
Hi Posi. Oh my goodness. You have had a lot to deal with. Well done to both of you. I can only imagine how difficult it’s been. Let’s hope things continue to improve slowly and you can both enjoy the summer to come. Sending all best wishes. Lizzie
Hi Posi
Sometimes we wonder how or if we are ever going to get through things, but some how we find the strenght to battle on.
As you say, your now cancer free and your hubby is home, well done you. Just take the time to heal properly because as you and your hubby start to feel better and do more, that's when the ' damage' can be done. So don't over do it, chores can wait a little longer !!. Consentrate on healing now.
Best wishes

Hi Posi
That sounds really tough so soon after surgery. It is really a time when you need to rest and recuperate and take things easy. Same for your husband. Doesn’t sound as though that is an option though under the circumstances. Try not to push yourself too hard and only do what is absolutely necessary. Is there any options through your council or something similar to get some home help for a little while?
Could your doctor help with this at all by making a referral?
When I was discharged from hospital I was given some options for some help at home if I was struggling and did not have the support I needed. Do they do anything similar in you neck of the woods?
You sound like a real trooper. Hope things get a bit easier soon.

My goodness. What a horrendous time for you. All I can say is I really pray that things improve for you. I, like you am praying that Spring and warmer weather will be a turning point for me. I had throat cancer, 3.5vweight loss, still not eating and desperate for some help. At least we are not alone for whatever that's worth. X. Pauline
Thanks, hope things get better for you soon. It’s tough, at least we’re getting some sunshine. We’ll get there. X
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
