so this is me ringing the bell yesterday after 30 rt cycles and 2 chemos. The mouth is a mess as is the skin but at least no more additional radiation going in. Just been to a lymphoedema clinic which was excellent so lots to be grateful for. Off back to bed now and see what Oncologists say in Feb. Cheers guys.
Oh Gene. Well done. You look fab!

Well done Gene . I start in a weeks time and hope I look as fit as you do at the end. Bit of advice from the experienced please . From what I understand there is still a way to go when treatment finishes. How long before I could maybe get back to work , my job is physical so need my strength . Thanks
Hi Gene. If you are still looking in, I hope the recovery is moving along. There are frustrating times ahead so I thought it m might be an idea to read this through again.

Hi Alanl, you are right there is still a way to go after treatment, the RT is still working for about 2 weeks after the last one. You do have to let your body heal itself, don't try to rush things along, have plenty of rest, try to eat as much as you can, it will often feel like 1 step forward and 2 back at times, but you will get there in the end. As for getting back to work, everyone is different, some people recover quicker than others, all I would say is don' try to rush back, only go back when you really feel you can. Good luck with your treatment, any questions you have, just ask on here, someone will always help if they can. All the best.
Regards Ray.
Everyone is different but rule of thumb seems to be 3 weeks last RT session for main effects to be subsiding and anything up to 12 weeks to BEGIN to feel normal. My rule of thumb is a year out from start to “new normal” but many have done faster and many slower. Fatigue will be your enemy and need to listen to your body.
