  • Thanks its just in case I get a craving but good idea too brush

  • Go for it. As hazel says there will be sugars but likely very much less than the awful Fortisips or Ensures we end up drinking. If you can't brush your teeth very well have a good swill out and get your team to prescribe some Bioxtra mouthwash

I found fizzy Diet Coke or Diet ginger ale with a good deal of the fizz stirred out were my salvation during RT

  • Glad  I found this forum .thanks for the suggestions

  • I am having a non-alcoholic Corona beer with crisps almost every evening - in the sunshine when it's out. It's my only sense of 'normality' during an otherwise difficult time (well, normality would be a glass of wine but I'll take whatever I can at this stage!). I am not sure how much longer I will be able to manage it so am enjoying it while I can. Good luck, hope you enjoy it!

  • Hi I'm currently going through HPV tonsil cancer., was going to ask if ok about drinking non alcoholic  guiness?? Iv had my 1st chemo session 5days/nights ..

  • Hi As we’ve said in the earlier posts be careful as there will be sugars and we need to be on top form oral wise as lack of saliva can cause dental issues. Personally I wouldn’t have drunk any but if your mouth can cope try one. By end of week 3 I wasn’t able to swallow everything went via ng tube. So no way could I have drunk one. Now I occasionally have an alcohol free beer as I’m an oddball and my mouth can’t tolerate any alcohol.
Good  luck with treatment, from a fellow HPV tonsil cancer patient.

Yes...Guiness 0.0 is fine. Full of B vitamins and Folic acid. Best avoid the proper stuff which can mess with your liver and you don't want that on chemo. Good luck  hope everything goes OK for you

  • Hi Hibee

    T2N1M0 Tonsil Cancer HPV+

I finished CRT in June ...have been enjoying Guinness 0%  with meals since about September ....provides some cals and normality....also found that I can tolerate St Peter's Without alcohol free ale.

    Good luck

    Peter

  • Ten years down the line (RT finished 28th Feb 2014) I've finally found an alcohol-free beer that I actually enjoy the taste of! It's Erdinger (Tescos and Sainsbury's both stock it), enjoy an occasional one, very pleasant. Lucky Saint deserves an honorable mention also

I've tried most of the "name" brands over time and most of them are shameful efforts, very often I've bought a four pack (because they don't come singly) and thrown three and a half bottles away.
