Well I finally got my diagnosis yesterday after a meeting with my ENT Consultant , my Oncologist and Cancer Nurse. So I’m T0 N2 M0 . No cancer could be found apart from the secondary in Lymph nodes either side of my neck so it’s no further Surgery and straight to Chemo Radiation. I’ll be having the 30 sessions of radio and 6 sessions of chemo over the 6 weeks hopefully starting early March .
It was a good feeling when the oncologist wrote ‘aim to cure ‘ on my paperwork I can tell you.
Got to take the positives out of the situation I guess.
regards all
Gaz
It’s a tough treatment but this cancer is eminently curable. Stick around, there are lots of people here to help you through
When you get your mask fitted ask them to cut eyeholes. It makes the whole experience much less claustrophobic
Best wishes

Sounds good Gaz (if cancer can ever be described as "good"), getting a confirmed diagnosis and treatment plan takes away a lot of fear and uncertainty for most. "Aim to cure" is great, I had "complete cure" when I asked an ocology registrar what she thought my most likely outcome was; my advice now would be (same as what I was given at a similar stage) to eat like a horse, put on some extra pounds because you're likely to lose a few over the weeks, so get a few extra in the bank.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Thanks Hazel , just reading threads on fellow group members various journeys has been so helpful .
Hi Good luck if you need anything just ask. Between us we cover most eventualities. Take it one day at a time.
