Saw my consultant today for the first time in a while, around eleven months down the line after initial surgery. He had a prod round with his camera (as they do) and then said that given my history of radiotherapy, the complications post-op and then the trauma of the infection/bleed, that the level of healing was "miraculous." I did point out to him that it wasn't actually a miracle and that it was down to the work done by him and his team but it was a lovely thing to hear all the same. I'm officially a miracle
I see Hazel's legendary typo voted your post down so I have redressed the balance. You are now neutral

Haha, no problem Hazel
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Just when you think it's going to leave you alone for a bit, started coughing up blood through my stoma this morning, not a huge amount and it's stopped now but worrisome. My son rang one of the specialist nurses to report it and they're seeing me tomorrow morning so rapid action fortunately.
Last time it happened (though through my mouth and nose rather than stoma) I ended up staying in for a week, tempted to pack a bag just in case. I'll report back.
