Hello All

Had a message from Hazel, which I tried to reply to and made a right pigs ear of it.  Sorry Hazel.  Well hopefully have now reached the end of two years of madness, 9 operations, 2 x 4 week courses of Radiotherapy and 3 months of Chemo, 5 cancers no one knows if they were related or not, 4 SCC and one Neuroendocrine.  Multiple scars and generally look like I have aged about 10 years.  But my whacky sense of humour has not let me down and most of the time have managed to look on the bright side of it all.  Am not saying there were not some dark days but at last I seem to be out the other end.  There has to be many checks, scans and general poking around to come but extremely grateful to the NHS and all support from you guys on this forum.

None of us know what the future holds, will it come back or not?  But Cannot let that thought interfere with living my best life.  Actually going back to work next week, not sure if it is too soon or not but am willing to give it a go.  My doctor has said if I struggle to go back as this is a marathon and not a sprint in her words.  If its too much then I will retire, only got 3 years to go anyway.  Still get fatigued if I do too much but Sherman will not let me get away with taking him for a walk even if my muscles are screaming at me.

Its strange but after all this time and everything that I went through I feel a bit lost, have not been to the hospital for a month now and no appointments until the end of June.  What I was praying for but feel like something is missing.  Hopefully all will remain good for the foreseeable future.  Thank you all for being there when the going got tough, wish you all the very best.

Love Mo

  • Hi Mo Well done You it sounds like you have been through the wars. All the best returning to work , Regards Min

  • Hi Mo. Hazel said you’d been in touch. So pleased you are where you are. Cutting that umbilical leaves you drifting in space doesn’t  it but Sherman seems like he’s got you sorted. Take it easy at work and when the novelty wears off just retire. Best thing I ever did.
    lots of love xxx

  • Hi Mo and thanks so much for the update - great news after everything you've been through.

Good luck with going back to work next week.  I think you're very wise to consider retiring if it's a struggle.  I'm sure Sherman would love it!

    Take care of yourself.

  • Good luck with the return to work.  Your sense of humour ha never left you, even in the darkest moments.  I am so glad that you are now out the other side of treatment and on the recover path.  My advice is don't retire early as your life will be even more hectic than when you were working; there is so much to do LaughingLaughingLaughing

You may not have the routine of such frequent hospital appointments, but there are many on here that need and welcome your help and advice so hopefully that will help fill the void just a little.
