Hi everyone ,

14 months post treatment and Just had my 8 week check, and all is ok ,I asked all my questions about taste going backwards, constant scratchy sometimes sore throat ,  but also I have developed pain in the big front muscle of my neck ,he said it's all down to radiotherapy, the gift that keeps giving . Anyway I'm wondering if fibrosis has started ? Any body had have this? And how do you cope or relieve the stiffness and pain ?

Thanks Mark

  • Hi Mark as I have had both surgery and CRT it is difficult for me to identify which causes what issues.  For my neck I think it is predominantly the surgery that causes slight discomfort and occasional cramping.  My tongue and teeth are defiantly CRT.  Although it may be different I used to use a hot shower with a "massage" head to relieve the stiffness in the morning and that worked well.  For my mouth I have got used to it and live with it.  Discomfort rather than pain.  I do find that the symptoms come and go over time.  One week it is OK the following it is more difficult.  This seems to be our new normal and I guess much depends on how we react to the situation as to how it impacts our lives.

Yes I have a stiff neck from RT. I massage and do neck exercises. Crucial to prevent it getting worse. I sleep on one of those neck support pillows. I have explored red light but I don’t think I need it yet.
