I finished my treatment three years ago today. 10/11/2017.

  • That is great - onwards and upwards! Blush

  • Well done.

Thanks for letting us know. It’s  so encouraging for people on the cusp of treatment to know that life has a meaning again

Some dates will forever remain etched in our cancer memories. For me it’s the day I found my cancer and the day I finished RT. Strangely I don’t recall the day I got declared Cancer-Free

My two years is up on 23rd January and it’s a strange place to be, yearning for the magic 5 years yet knowing that brings older age yet even nearer.

    Keep on Keeping on

  • Great news. And encouraging for those of us starting on the journey.

  • Hi Old Biker. Snap! My last treatment day was 10th November 2017 too. Wow what a long way I’ve come from that truly dreadful day - is that your experience too? Looking back that 1st year after treatment was very challenging, much worse than I had ever been warned about. But through the support of my family and with great advice and information from friends on this site, I got through the tough times, got back to work and have since then set up (with my CNS) a Head & Neck Cancer Patient Support GRoup in my area. We can only meet on Zoom at the moment but it’s still great to speak to others who have come through treatment. I even met up, on the last day before lockdown 2.0, with 3 ladies from the group, one of whom had recently finished treatment.

So to those about to go through treatment and those who are in the initial recovery phase, please be aware that you will get back to a form of normality, but nothing happens quickly. Patience and a bit of determination required!

Good luck for the next 3 years Old Biker

  • Hi. Hilary I do remember we had finished our treatment on the same day, you are right we have come a long way since then. I have had my up's and down's and worries, as we all do. It's good to hear you are doing well also. Keep up the good work. All the best.

For those who are at the start of treatment and going through treatment, there is light at the end of the tunnel, you will get there. Good luck to you all.

    Regards Ray

Hilary that is a wonderful and rewarding thing to do.

Being available to people in trouble with their treatment and recovery effects quickly is a godsend. Hazel and I do something similar on WhatsApp
