Rather than trying to post in two or three separate threads I thought I’d start a new one just to update all of you.
I sent Mike a message to wish him well and this is what I got back
Thanks for the message Dani. I keep being on the verge of coming back or at least updating but I keep getting curve balls, most recently arterial bleeding (I made a right mess of outpatients) followed by emergency surgery on Friday, so at the moment I'm back on the ward. They seem to me like they're not entirely sure what to do with me at the moment, my throat was packed with a coagulant and some dissolvable packaging in theatre but today I coughed up a load of it .. very scary and unpleasant. My blood pressure is low all the time but on the borderline for a transfusion as yet so they keep umming and ahing on it. I'm still "on watch" in the number one high viz bed which isn't exactly reassuring but at least I get a single room. I'd love to sample your honey if/when I get to eat, I'll give you a shout. Thanks for the thoughts and feel free to share this message with anyone you think it'd be of interest to. Mike x
What I should have mentioned is that the team are very confident they got all the tumour with good margins, which was after all the main objective of all this. The many and varied complications that have happened are all to do with the healing process which they've said today (in terms of swallowing) mean a three month delay.
All being well home Friday now, though I know all the ward staff better than my family given the last 8/9 weeks
Hope all contributers old and new are well/coping with their circumstances, one of these days my brain will find a way to engage a gear and I'll be on here more reliably xx

I was also in one of.those number 1 high.viz rooms. I rather enjoyed it as there was always something going on at the desk!
Take good care Mike and all the best.

Thanks for the update Mike, so sorry you are having issues along the way but great to know they feel confident in removing all the tumour. I loved having a single room as it had a tv and en-suite, i was rather spoilt . Yes, the ward staff become part of the family for a while but I'm sure they will be happy/sad when you leave. Hope all goes well for Friday, hang on in their mate, all the best.

Thanks Beesuit, been looking out for news.
The very first post I read on this forum was 'How's MikeO' and was from that moment gripped by this gentleman's story. His courage in facing personal adversities as well as his compassion toward others going through their own challenges rang loud and evidenced by such concern relayed on the site toward his current situation.
We havent 'met' Mike but know that every single member here joins me now in sending our collective good vibes your way for a most speedy recovery from those unwelcome after effects of what otherwise seems to be a good outcome.
Hold on tight to your dreams.

That's a lovely message. So many people here owe their sanity to Mike. ( and to chris2012 )
Without his encouragement and sense of humour many of us would have had an even more difficult journey through treatment and recovery. He has been a beacon of light in the dark.
His reply was the first I ever got and I will never forget his kindness.
