Worried about tongue, throat and lymphadenopathy

Hello! I'm 28 yo woman (never drink or smoke) who recently noticed a huge problem with oropharynx. It started may be in 16-17 of February this year; I noticed some weird pain between left side of my base of tongue, pharynx and...idk how to name it, a part of buccal mucosa behind lower left teeth. It was like short shooting, not really hard, but annoying, cuz it repeated daily. I got some sore throat while swallowing. Very occasionally, not every time I eat, drink or gulp saliva. But it was really weird. As something is poking me in throat below base of tongue, not in my usual "problem places" (palate tonsils; I have a chronic tonsillitis since my late teen age).

There was (and are still with me) bunch other strange symptoms, as occasionally dull pain under jawline and chin, which sometimes endured while chewing. I have a TMJ, so itself it isn'tt so worrysome, but...

I waited for couple day, thought it may be a kind of strep or a gum infection, so used some cheap remedies, which only leaded to foliate papillitis on my left tongue part. Meh... Foliate papillitis went away after properly treatment, but other symptoms are still with me. Sometimes it includes an ear pain, which lasts about 2-3 seconds.  Sometimes it's a sharp pain in scalp skin behind my ear and at the top of head. Today I checked my lymph nodes and found big meaty lumps below  the jawline (ofc left side). It was awful finding! There's some smaller lumps on right side. I can't really say, is it lymph nodes or a normal muscle tissue, but still extremely scared.

I will book an appointment with dentist and oropharyngeal specialist both, cuz I really idk, where's a problem. In 2020 I have an ultrasound of my lymphnodes and salivary glands: only benign neck reactive lymphadenopathy were founded; my otolaryngologist said that 2cm neck nodes is the chronic tonsillitis result and nothing to worry.

I have GERD, nasal drip and hypothyroidism, and still hoping its something benign, just my chronic conditions related.

P.s. Sadly Im located in Moldova, but chose this forum cuz of good atmosphere; our local conversations are much more pessimistic.

  • Hi and welcome. Fingers crossed your otolaryngologist finds nothing of concern. Oropharyngeal cancer is not common in one so young but sadly tongue cancer, though unusual, is known to be on the rise so it's good that you are being seen quickly. I hope you don't need us but if you do there is much help here.

    Take care

Im sorry  to hear about your situation and understand your worry and concern. You are right to this checked out I would always advise to see a specialist when you have anything symptoms that are really worrying you.

Like Dani I hope this goes well and they can explain your pain etc .

GERD /Nasal drip and chronic tonsillitis are difficult conditions to be dealing with at a young age .I hope you have some medication to help ease the symptoms..

Please let us know the outcome we will all have our fingers crossed for you.Fingers crossed
