Hi, I was diagnosed with the throat cancer September 2020, received 37 doses of Radiotherapy and 5 doses of Chemotherapy, this was supposed to be 7 but had Tovic reaction to the Chemotherapy so they decided that 5 would be enough. The Radiotherapy as welded my throat muscle together which means can’t swallow anything not even my saliva, had operation last year involving two surgeons one going up from my stomach and other going down my throat to cut a way through the throat muscle, which was a success, then had my throat stretched once a week for 9 weeks, which then allowed all the Bile in my stomach to come up and this burnt my mouth younger and lips, so the decision was made to let the throat muscle grow back together so not had anything to eat or drink by mouth since 2020. I cannot go out socially as I would have to keep spitting my saliva into a pot , cannot go on holiday for same reason as would have to have all my feed delivered abroad if the Hotel would except this or take it on the plane with me. Wife had enough so after 51 years of marriage now going through process of Divorce. Yes still alive but got no life as such. end of moan

Hi Neil sorry to hear of the trouble you are having. This is a good, and safe place, to moan so feel free!
Probably the last thing on your mind at the moment, but have you thought of holidays in the UK? That would make the logistics easier and you will hopefully get to meet some people who see past the physical ailments to the real you.
The whole going out bit is really difficult for many of us and I can see where you are coming from, but sometimes we just have to say "so what" to what others may think and get on with things.
Best of luck and hopefully someone with more practical experience of your type of situation will be along to give advice.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
