One week after RT

Good morning all - Trust you are all well?

I am now almost a full week after completing six weeks (30 sessions) of RT for tonsil cancer.  Everyone I speak too says the side effects continue to get worse for two weeks afterwards? But to be honest, apart from my neck and throat getting slightly sorer (both I can manage), I have not experienced something considerably worse.  Please tell me I am not being complacent and that I have been fortunate with the side effects?

Thanks

John

  • Hi John

So far so good ...I hope it stays that way....some patients do get off relatively lightly ...next couple of weeks will be informative.

  • Thanks Peter, here to hoping

  • Hi John, as Peter E touched on, everyone reacts differently.. count it as a blessing.. hopefully your recovery will be swift and trouble free..

  • Hi John

I think I was perhaps one of the lucky ones too. I was braced for a tough few weeks and whilst it was challenging, I managed to get off painkillers (Paracetamol) completely during that period. I was a bit worried that maybe I was resistant to treatment (funny how your mind starts inventing things!) but all was ok...

Hope your symptoms stay manageable but don't worry if they worsen too and definitely don't suffer anything. So if it gets more challenging just up your pain meds.

  • Hi John. I had some sore throat but didn’t get the expected down turn predicted. I had more mucous and lack of sleep   We all differ.
