Hi
I have had a very sore throat and difficulty in speaking since 22nd October 24. 39 days. I've had 2 courses of antibiotics and no improvement. My throat is so sore and I can barely speak.
I've now had an urgent referral to the hospital. When the referral was made I could see the computer screen in the Doctor's office and the word 'cancer' was on the form in several places.
My hospital appointment came through yesterday - it's in 12 days.
I'm OK but I keep getting big waves of anxiety that come and go. I'm doing my best to trust the process, I know I am in good hands, it's not easy though
Does anyone have any tips about how to cope with the waiting.
Thank you so much for reading this and thank you in anticipation for any responses
Trish

Hi Trish,
Great advice from Dani stay of Google at all costs( some of the best advice I got).
We all have the Aniious part of our brains feeling like they are taking over everything ! it’s normal it happens when we are totally overwhelmed with fear and anxiety of the unknown and we can’t process or deal with it .
Some people use breathing relaxation .I(like Hazel) found watching mindless TV and Netflix watching just about everything,it would take up to a couple of hrs and then it would finaly calm down and give me some respite xIts really not easy but worth a try.
Spend this time doing the things that bring you joy ,waking the dogs is a great start and easy way to combine fresh air and exercise.See friends and family talk to people about how your feeling dont bottle it up inside .
Eat your favourite foods if you can, plan a nice trip or your dream holiday( even if its only a dream I have about 10 worldwide good to dream).
There is always someone here to offer you support x

Hi Kos
So sorry that you are having such an anxious time …… it’s so difficult to keep our anxious brain busy but it’s currently on overload and can’t cope with the fear of the unknown.
Dani and Hazel have already given great advice ,distraction is very hard to do but it really helped me I tried walking /swimming but my mind had different ideas so watching TV series and Films on Netflix really helped also planning amazing dream holidays ( which I haven’t been on) really helped .
Breathing relaxation and meditation are amazing also x
Maybe make your own profile on Mcmillan in the meantime sending you a big hug
Debbie
Thank you for your advice and caring. I am reading a book at the moment and binge watched The Mayor of Casterbridge so I am kind of trying.
