Hi there,

First thing to say is i know i need to see a doctor but i just want to see if my symptoms are familiar to anyone with nasal/sinus cancer.

My septum started breaking down about a year ago and what started as a small hole is now so bad there is literally no separation of my nostrils and my septum is all but gone. i can push my finger in my nose past my second knuckle. I was diagnosed with GPA vasculitis and had a course of chemotherapy to suppress my immune system 6 months ago.

Since then Im still suffering with symptoms that i’m not sure is linked to GPA and im concerned that i have a tumour or cancer and i will explain my symptoms.

I have constant tinnitus in my left ear, neither of my ears ever pop and constantly muffled, i can feel a lump/growth quite far up my right side nostril and my nose blocks everyday abd i have to snort big lumps of bloody mucus out every 6 hours or so. My nasal drip from nose to throat is blocked and when i put my finger really far into my nose i can feel a soft lump of mucus but i can never clear it or get it out, my lymph nodes are constantly swollen in my neck, i have a hard pea sized lump just in front of my ear on right side just under cheek bone level. I struggle with balance and dizziness, some days my hearing is non existent and the last few days i have developed a crackling rasping chest when i breathe and a chesty/mucus cough. My gums are inflamed, i have loose teeth on one side which is my right side and i feel like shit all the time. exhausted, breathless, pain in lots of areas and i just wondered if anyone can relate to my symptoms as i’m worried about nasal/sinus cancer

thankyou

  • Hi John

I was going to answer this last night but I was hoping somebody who had sinonasal cancer might pop on.

The truth of the matter is that your symptoms are so severe you need to get to a hospital asap. In your situation I would be presenting myself to A&E to bypass any two week referral (they are taking longer these days)

    Please do it today

Maybe it is your GPA but it needs looking at

It might help to give the Macmillan helpline a ring too. The number is at the bottom of my reply

  • Hi, John I agree with Dani, you need to be seen as soon as possible, just leaving it won't help. The sooner you go the sooner, you will know what it is, and have it sorted.
