Hi I’ve joined here because I am petrified of what they’re going to do Have had issue with gum for some time but the red and white patches appeared and now have a sore red patch. I don’t know where to turn, have a scan this week and biopsy in 3 weeks, don’t think I can handle it!
Hi Kos. Welcome to our little community.
First
There are around 250,000 urgent referrals for suspected head and neck cancer each year, according to NHS England.
However, only 5% of these are diagnosed with the disease.
So those odds are pretty good.
You don’t know till you know
I don’t know where to turn, have a scan this week and biopsy in 3 weeks, don’t think I can handle it!
You’ve turned to a good place peopled by any number of us who have been where you are and have survived and thrived.
The next few weeks are going to be a challenge but all you can do is keep busy and don’t look for answers on Google.
Stay with us. You CAN do it if you have too. Hugs

I wrote a blog about my cancer. just click on the link below
I know I’ve got it as sore red patch on tongue and horrible taste and lesion on gum front teeth that’s been there for years. Now realise it’s cancer and receded gum etc I didn’t think to much of it. I’m absolutely terrified. Anyone on here had similar and are ok. I just want hope and someone to communicate with, feel so alone.
Hi Kos welcome from me. Best advise stick with us on here keep off Dr gogle you’ll scare yourself more than you are already.
like Dani says only a small percentage of referrals are cancer If you’re like us unlucky enough to join us remember head snd neck cancers do have excellent responses to treatment Kerp busy read watch trashy box sets go for a walk. The fear on the unknown is what’s scaring you now.

Hello Kos,
I was the same with red and white patches appearing on my lower gum. Had an x-ray and biopsy and it was stage 2 squamous cell carcinoma. It was in 1 lymph node but they removed 31. Surgery (lower left mandibulectomy and neck dissection) removed the cancer so I didn't need radiotherapy or any other treatment . The op was brutal but 11 months on I'm doing really well. You may not even have the same thing. Please keep us informed and direct message me if you like. Happy to help. Good luck xxx
