Hi there, feeling very anxious and scared for my partner, three days ago my partner had what we thought was a follow up appointment following on from surgery three weeks ago, surgery to remove what we were told was a benign cyst at the back of my partners nose, alot of thr cyst was removed and results from biopsy showed it was a post nasal carcinoma, such a shock to hear the word cancer! We unfounately have to wait for thr results from MRI and CT scan although the doctors are fairly positive that it's slow growing and have advised a big chunk was removed during the biopsy but there is a little bit left over, I was told radiotherapy and surgery is the most likely treatment but until we get the results we don't know the plan yet, I have also been told it's quite a rare cancer, has anyonelse got any experience on this type of cancer that they could possibly shed some light on? I believe radiotherapy is a six week course and sounds very very intense, we have two little kids at home and are only young so just conscious about recovery and side effects, very worried about it all, this forum seems really helpful so thought I would reach out. Thank you xx
Hi RMCR,
Welcome to our group.
I am so sorry to hear about your fiancés diagnosis. Its really scary for you and How old are your children ? x
I didn’t have the same cancer as mine was in the right tonsil but I did have 7 weeks of high dose radiotherapy and two overnight chemos and like most people I was petrified.
This is the hardest part for many of us as once the treatment plan starts the fear and anxiety seem to lessen.
As a partner it will be very hard on you too . Make sure you both have lots of support emotionally and practically . Many hospitals have a free charitable taxi service to and from apts / Mcmillan can help with financial advice and counselling .There is always someone from this very supportive group to listen, offer advice from their own personal experience /knowledge base or send you a virtual hug .
Hopefully someone who has had the same/similar diagnosis may be able to help you further x
Debbie
Hi RCMR
I've done a search for you and found some posts about Nasopharyngeal Cancer
I'm not sure whether that is what your partner's diagnosis is. If you click on the link you could have a look and maybe tack a post on some of the most recent threads. A lot of people do look in after recovery
Debbie's advice is good. RT is a real challenge but doable. There are lots of people here to help you with through so stay with us

Hi dani, thank you for that, we will find out exactly what type of cancer it is on thurs but for now all I know is it's a carcinoma in his post nasal cavity, where hoping that surgery alone will remove it which is a possibility but it could be radiotherapy as well, thank you for getting back to me and sending on the thread, that's really helpful xx
