Hi everyone,

New to all this. Got my diagnosis a week ago and have an appointment on Wednesday with consultant where I expect to find out about my treatment. Currently feeling completely lost

  • Hi Crafty Nanny, welcome.  You are feeling like we all did at the beginning of all of this.  Don't worry, on here everyone is friendly, helpful and supportive.  There will always be someone to answer any questions you may have.  I, myself has SCC HPV+ Cancer of the left tonsil and left lymph node.  I have had two surgeries and are soon to embark on a course of RT and CT.  How are you feeling in yourself, besides shocked and lost of course.  We are all here for you.  Tell us a little more about your diagnosis so someone on here will no doubt have had similar and will be able to help guide you through.

    Hugs

  • Hi Hazel,

Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I feel quite well apart from some pain in my ear and jaw which I have had for some time. It has taken 10 months, 3 biopsies, 3 cT scans and 2MRI’s to get a diagnosis but have been assured that my tumour is still currently low grade. Am currently under Addenbrooke’s . Hopefully will get more info on Wednesday. Diagnosis is Muco Epidermoid Carcinoma

  • Hi Crafty

Welcome, HPV16+ cancers have good outcomes, respond well to treatment, keep the forum updated with your progress, plenty of sound advice and support.

  • my tumour is still currently low grade

Thank goodness it is low grade, I believe that is 90% success rate!  I don't know much else about your type of cancer, mine is SCC HPV+ it was found in my left tonsil (which was removed) and in one lymph node which was removed via neck dissection along with 37 others.  I am due to start RT and CT soon, will find out more tomorrow.
