Hi all, my mom is on this forum as well. She is about 1/2 finished her radiation and chemo for tonsillar carcinoma. She has feeding tube(NG) and on a list for a G-tube(plug as some of you call it? ). Anyway. I am going to stay with her and my dad next week for a few weeks and I got them a really nice blender. She can't stand the smell of the Ensure tube feeds anymore. There are a lot of tube feed cookbooks. Do you all have any suggestions? I think she is wanting savory things more than sweet things. And is still obviously needing to keep on her weight(she doesn't have much to begin with) .
Thanks for your support, in supporting my mom. She is my person, you know? I love her so much.
Morning
I'm not sure what you mean about tube feed cook books, as it's only meds, flushes {water} and feed that go down the tubes.
I started with an NG, which i had for 5 months, I now have a RIG.
I am on a liquid diet 90% of the time and got fed up with the usual soups etc so i came up with this. You may be able to get some ideas from it and blend it down to what is managable for your mum.

Hi. While dieticians will say that only ensures and Fortisips can go into a stomach tube it’s not strictly true. If you get a proper commercial blender like vitamiix you can blend whole meals. But it has to be a heavy duty one so that the blend is fine. An ordinary shop bought one won’t do it

Hi
A RIG Is a feeding tube that goes straight into the stomch, a PEG is the same thing.
They only have a different name because of the way they are 'fitted'.......
PEG stands for Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy - inserted via a telescope down the food pipe. RIG stands for Radiologically Inserted Gastrostomy - inserted using X-ray guidance after having barium placed inside the stomach.
