Hi all

I am new to the online community.

I have cancer of the right tonsil which has spread into my neck. Radio and Chemo for 6 weeks. Part way through the treatment.

just wanted to say hi, thanks for sharing your stories and looking forward to contributing to the group.

  • Hi blod

mine feels like a bald crescent - but still losing some hair.

i am not in pain, the only discomfort is swallowing some foods. So have not been taking painkillers yet.

I use my PEG for meds and I take one bottle after each meal, to top calories up. I lost 7kg in first 14 days cos of lack of calories.

i must be doing something right cos my bloods are good, not dehydrated and not in pain.

That's brilliant to hear. Some folk get through this relatively unscathed physically. I keep banging on about the need to keep the nutrition up and not lose too much weight. It's what gets the recovery on track.

    Well done

  • Take painkillers on a regular schedule to keep pain under control.

Absolutely agree. Pain is better controlled by taking analgesics ahead of the pain rather than chasing it. By the clock. I had a tick list on the kitchen wall. Clever folk do spreadsheets. There’s lots of stuff to remember, feeds, drugs, laxatives and oral care

  • Welcome to the club that no one rushes to join.

I had similar left side of tongue, tonsil and left lymph node. 2 Chemo sessions and 30 radiotherapy sessions. I was ok until week 5 when my thoat got sore and after the second session of chemo I couldn't keep my food down so lost a bit of weight. Ive had a couple of set backs with infections in the throat and trismus. Living life though the best I can and learning to eat again.

Fighter of cancer T4N2M0 oropharyngeal SCC(grade 3, P16 positive) 2 cycles of chemotherapy and 30 radiotherapy sessions.
