Hello
First time post here & wanted to connect & say hi.
In February I was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (T1N3M0). It came as a complete shock and really floored me. Treatment began quite quickly and I’m just about to finish my third cycle of chemotherapy before a 3 week break and then start daily radiotherapy for 6 weeks.
Nasopharyngeal cancer appears to be quite rare so I wanted to connect with people who are going through / have been through similar and those who’ve been through the experience of radiotherapy to the head and neck area.
While chemotherapy has been rough in parts I think I am more anxious and concerned about the side effects of radiotherapy and all the issues that come with it.
I will have a read through of some of the older posts but would really appreciate any advice on how to get through it. I have my radio planning session next week and mask fitting appointment and I’ll be honest I’m just totally dreading it.
Thank you in advance for any advice
Thank you Basbas - sounds like we are at very similar stages of our treatment. I’ve just finished my first week of RT.
I didn’t have an MRI scan after my first three rounds of chemo only in the beginning when at diagnosis - I did have a CT scan after chemo but before Radio as part of the planning session.
wishing you all the best with your treatment
Hi. , yes exactly the same , well my is T4 unfortunately. I am just about to finish my 3 cycle, tomorrow pomp off . Monday dental assessment and Wednesday PEG assessment, mask ,MRI scan and start chemo radiation for 6-7 weeks,
my lumps on neck are smaller, so maybe chemo works ..,,
all the best x
Hi folks The radio will be tough but hang in there. I had a meeting with my consultant and she is happy with how my neck feels which means the secondary has responded to treatment hopefully. Still waiting on the date for the follow up scan. Let me know if you want to ask anything else x
You’ll get a look around by the dentist then one of those panoramic X-rays that do your whole jaw.
There are side effects of RT that can have serious ramifications on your jaw if your teeth are unhealthy. That’s why they do it.
what frightens you?
