Hey,
I am Princessdelrey and living in Cornwall. I am 30 and a female.
Recently, 4/6 weeks ago i noticed a small bump/lump on my tongue right in the middle on the top. Thought it would go away it has not and is only becoming larger.
Anyway, fast forward to monday i decided to ask my GP about it and she referred me to the Head Neck Cancer Fast track department at the hospital. Boy was she not wrong. Got a call the next day to be seen this thursday!
so here i am, tomorrow i have a 2 hour consultation with a oral consultant and i am terrfied. What is to expect? I have nothing other than a basic letter advising me to bring medications and to prepare for 2 hours.
Thanks in advance.
Hi try not to stress. Fast track on head snd neck cancer pathway is the quickest way to get seen. You will get a thorough examination probably an endoscopy which is a very thjng tube with a camera uo your nose and down into throat area. I had one on my first visit on pathway the e n t consultant s are slick at doing them. I had one Tuesday hardly felt if.
It’s a scary time please keep off dr google you will scare yourself silly. Fingers x there’s nothing to be seen.

Hi Princessdelrey
Welcome to our community
Fantastic being seen so quickly.
Sounds like you are at a One Stop Cancer Clinic in which case you'll get a thorough physical exam and probably a nasoendoscope and you might get all your tests done together with a result within two weeks. Head and neck MRI, chest CT and Biopsy of the lump. These are wonderful clinics and remove so much gut wrenching waiting time and of course speed up diagnosis.
Best of luck and let us know how you get on.
Remember 90% of referrals are not cancer
