Can anyone recommend some pain relief that works for really sore mouth. I have been prescribed oramorph which takes the edge off but doesn’t really get rid of the discomfort which is making it difficult to speak and drink.
Hi Katgi
Is it the immunotherapy that’s making your mouth sore?
Maybe you could get some help from your oncologist.
Ulcers respond well for a short time to Difflam. Gelclair and Caphosol are soothing but I don’t know if that’s the problem.
You can swish the morphine round your mouth before you swallow and it might be worth getting some sustained release morphine to take twice daily.

Hi KatgI
sorry I can’t add much to what Dani has said already. She’s given some sound advise don’t know how often you are having immunotherapy but maybe a call to oncologist might help you.
good luck hope you get the pain sorted soon

Thank you, I am hoping that the oncologist will have some ideas. I already use fentanyl patches. It may be that I just need to take larger doses of the oramorph, at the moment I am on 5 ml every 4 hours though I sometimes take it more often. What is the sustained release morphine like?
Hi Katgi
I also used Xylocaine for my sore mouth but only to help with eating. It made a huge difference to me and made eating manageable.
It does wear off fairly quickly but for me was worth it just to help keep up the calories.
The fentanyl patches and liquid morphine did help but the pain was never completely eliminated.
Regular liquid Panadol really made a difference also and is not to be underestimated.
Best wishes with your ongoing treatment.

Ah.....Fentanyl is one up from morphine so not an option. Yes you can take more oramorph. That's no problem. My oncologist told me you can take it every two hours if necessary. Best check with your oncologist. I hope you can sort this out fairly quickly
