Hi Tempus and welcome.
I also had base of tongue cancer which was diagnosed in May 2018. I had a robotic surgery to remove the tumour plus a neck dissection followed a few weeks later by radiotherapy.
You're right, base of tongue cancer is incredibly difficult to access for surgery which is why the gold standard treatment the last few years has been chemoradiation. However, the hospital where I was treated has a robot which makes surgery much easier and more accurate.
I hope the results of your biopsy are good and wish you all the best in your recovery.

Hi Marc
Post treatment biopsy isn’t standard. I had one because I had an avid PET/CT ( a hotspot) at the site of the original tumour. They didn’t find any cancer

Hi min nope biopsies aren’t standard. Mostly done if pet ct scan shows anything. If my n g tube blocked we used to put a bit of Luke warm tea in via syringe to loosen the gunk if that helps x

Thanks Dani and Hazel . Two great tips . I spent the guts of the day and busted more syringes and it was the last call that saved the day with boiled water in the small syringe using a back and forth action. It took three different nurse to get this one in due to my throat being so sore and thats the way I was heading today. Thanks Regards Min Baking soda or bicarb was recommended also
