Hello, this is my first visit to this website, my consultant is of the opinion I have very early-stage cancer on one of my vocal cords. Yesterday he did a biopsy via through the nose down into the voice box so we await the result, if the sample wasn't enough they will do a biopsy with me under anaesthetic on the 30th of Nov. I am a 72-year-old male my voice changed a few weeks ago I just knew after a few days something was wrong. The good news is he is very confident that he can sort it out with radiotherapy if indeed it is cancer.
Hi and welcome to the forum. So sorry you are faced with this.
Radiotherapy is the treatment of choice for laryngeal cancer as your oncologist has indicated.
It’s a cancer that is caught early because it has such definite symptoms.
Your doctors are spot on. It’s quite curable.
On the other hand I hope it’s not cancer and everything is fine.
Fingers crossed.

Good evening Viv0147, its great news that you are in the NHS system and that your consultant has got the ball rolling, as we say the earlier these cancer are treated the better the results are. Let's hope the results of the biopsy come back clear but try not to worry if they don't as it sounds as if your consultant is confident in a positive outcome. As many of us have found that most head and neck cancers have very good outcomes with the patient making a full recovery. Wishing you all the best, take care.
Chris .
