Good afternoon all. I hope you are all doing ok.
im new here and wanted to chat to you as you hopefully will relate to me and I will understand more.
back in nov i had a lump on my tonsil i thought i was getting a sore throat and a cold, however the lump grew and I went to doctors. Very quickly i was sent to ent and they didn’t say anything about cancer just that they would remove my tonsils. 27th an had my tonsils removed along with lump which came out in three parts went to my follow or and was told I had tonsil cancer. Hpv16 which from what I can gather is curable so that’s a positive. Last Thursday week I had a mri and this week I had a phone call from my key worker to say I need to see ent on Monday. I asked what the outcome of the Mei was as in do I still have cancer and was told there is nothing new which I take as positive but still not sure what to expect on Monday. It sounds like they are considering more surgery to get clear margins maybe radiotherapy maybe both. My mind is going 110ph waiting again to know what will happen. Scared yes tearful yes but a fighter always
Hi Toffee. Welcome to our little group. So sorry to see you here. You’re right about HPV driven throat cancer. It responds really well to radiation if surgery doesn’t get it all.
Waiting is awful but all you can do is try to keep busy, get out into the fresh air, meet friends for coffee and get out and about.
If you can take somebody in with you to your consultation . An extra pair of ears is invaluable as we do miss stuff.
Hopefully you won’t need more treatment but if you do there’s lots off help here from people who have the t shirt.
Hugs

Hi Toffee the fear of the unknown is what you're feeling it’s not unusual I was the same 7 years ago. Best advise keep off dr Google try to stay busy and take a notebook and pen with you don’t leave the consultation unail you anre sure about what’s happening next. I took my husband and daughter with me as my brain went blank.
As yiuve said HPV driven tumours do respond extremely well to treatment many of us in here can testify to that me included.
hugs
