    Hi

Yes same here, only 6 weeks of RT though. A lot of pain! At least 3 months after treatment ended were a write off! Started feeling better after 3 months, pandemic didn't help! Feel free to reach out with any questions

  • Good evening Timbo1963, i have had cancer in my neck but it was more my larynx (voicebox) then my throat, i did not have treatment of radio or chemo it was just an operation to remove my Larynx. I had radiotherapy and chemo after my first operation,so maybe we can answer any concerns you have as we all had different side effects during our journies. Best wishes, take care.

  • Yes I  had radiotherapy for 6 weeks but not chemotherapy for mouth cancer twice, once in 2013 on the right side of my face and once in 2019 on the left side of my face but did not  have throat cancer. Don’t know if it was any easier though. Initially lots of side effects of dry mouth, altered taste so everything tasted like sawdust, ulcers in the mouth that were very painful and made eating hard going and fatigue.

Took me several months to get back on my feet as I had no energy and it took quite a while to be able to eat properly. Had lots of naps and had to pace myself and felt rather down for a while.

However finished latest radiotherapy in Feb 2020 and now I am feeling really well and on top of things again. You just have to be patient as you do eventually get there.

    Best wishes with the recovery.

Hope your recovery picks up. Those last two weeks are the worst. You will start to feel better soon. Good luck
