Long story short dad 79 lump in neck, told cancer parotid gland, partial removal, full neck dissection four weeks ago on Wednesday.
Just had a call from the ent consultant to be told it's been confirmed not a primary tumour,no idea where it's come from ,will now need more scans and pet scans and will discuss further on Monday...I'm terrified for my dad ,dreading what's to come.
Thankyou .It's just a lot for my Dad to be going through at his age and mum's older and not coping great...we'll know more Monday when we see the ent consultant to discuss in more detail.
Hi RedTree26
Not the news you wanted but fingers crossed they find the primary and can treat it. Hopefully your dad’s PET is soon. How is your dad feeling after his op?

I had a similar experience with lots of bits taken out and the primary not found. This went on for a number of years before the primary finally made an appearance and stayed around long enough to be treated with chemo and RT. I chose not to have further treatment but go onto "watchful waiting ". Have a look at my profile. I do not regret my choices and although recovery from surgery is tough it is not a hard or as long as CRT recovery.
