Hi All, we are just looking to see if anyone has been in a similar situation I think. My sister has had treatment for tongue cancer in October which included operation and reconstruction of tongue, lymph’s taken from neck, radio & chemo. She has had the results from her scan and they have come back with irregular saliva gland which the are unclear what’s going on. Before starting radio they said there was shading of this saliva gland but didn’t do a biopsy as would delay treatment so desired to blast it instead. The consultants have said they are confused as the gland is still the same as before even after being blasted with radio.
Has anyone else had this - the consultant has said it could be damaged but my sister has to have a biopsy which they have said could give a false negative and will have to have the gland removed anyway.
she is so worried and confused, the results said no cancer found anywhere else.
