Hi everyone,

Would just like to thank you all as I’ve read through this forum a lot over the last couple of months. It’s been very helpful.

I’m 5 week post treatment for cancer of the tonsil T4N0 5 Chemo and 30 RT. I’ve been very lucky and managed to keep swallowing through the treatment which has meant my recovery has been reasonably smooth.

I am a bit concerned as I have little white spots/ulcers all over the roof of my mouth which make it painful to eat. I was interested to know of other people’s post treatment experience and whether this is the norm.

Seeing oncologist in a few days…

  • Hi

well done on completing treatment and making a good start to recovery. Yes perfectly normal  water blisters  and ulcers are par for the course. If you’re introducing different foods our mouths tend to rebel. Ask for gelclair when you  see consultant. It can help. In meantime salt  water and bi carb rinses can help. . Think softer  foods for a few days poached eggs are good think toddler type foods for  a few days.then start to introduce  food again and see if your mouth calms down.  Hazel x
