Hi all. Thanks everyone for all your support during the treatment of Hpv throat cancer for my husband. You were all my go to people when things seemed hard. He is now 4 weeks post last radiotherapy session. All the days have blurred into a stretch of getting meds and food in via the rig but there have been some positives. He is now able to drink and taste flavoured cordial. So far though this is about all that tastes ok. Everything else he has tried like soup or yoghurt have all had that cardboard taste.
can you give me any ideas of things that you tried that actually tasted ok? The nutritionist says eat to refuel rather than with the intention to enjoy but my hubby is finding pretty much everything he tries disgusting. It’s beginning to be a real obstacle.
Thanks everyone x

I think the food is fuel mantra is spot on unfortunately
It was six months before I could taste enough to enjoy food and even then it was limited. Other folk on here did much better and we are all different
This is a useful publication on taste changes

Thanks for that thread Dani. I have just read it and it really helps. Thank you
Fresh cream doughnuts were one of the first things I really enjoyed, washed down with warm tea, Baxter's carrot and butter bean soup, a tip from this forum was alcohol free Guinness, still enjoy a glass of this occasionally.
My CNS and dietitian told me to constantly challenge myself with different foods and drinks, it takes time but certainly worked for me.
