Won’t the hospital help show you how to care for yourself at home while you are having radiotherapy? 

Once the Tracheostomy has settled down you should be able to look after it yourself so its worth giving it a try, if not then try the second option.

Hi, we went through all this last Sunday. Wait and see what your oncologist has to say during your appointment later on. No point getting worked up before anything has actually been decided. I don't know about the UK but you would not even be considered for a place in a nursing home here just because of a tracheastoma. Self-care at home is not difficult and becomes routine.
