Hi All,
T2N1M0 p16 positive carcinoma base of tongue
Finished Radiotherapy & Chemo 13/09/24
I’m about 5 months post chemoradiotherapy for base of tongue cancer and still struggling with eating etc so I’m fairly reliant on the milkshake supplements we get.
I’ve recently been moved from Ensures to Aymes Compact powders that I mix myself with milk as I no longer need my PEG tube and I’m now drinking them.
So the question I have is does anyone else experience a strange aftertaste with Aymes? This may sound strange but they taste ok immediately after mixing but then develop a strange aftertaste, in essence they stop tasting like the favour they are supposed to.
Any advice or comments are welcome.
Hi jimbo67 Welcome to the group. What you are saying about the taste, this happened to me when I started to eat small amounts of soft food, the first bit tasted like it should, but the more I ate the less it tasted how it should. I think it's that our taste buds get such a blasting that it takes a good while for them to get back to normal. It did slowly get back to normal for me, hopefully it will for you.
Ray.
Hoping so too!
I should have explained better, I don’t have this issue with other food / drink, including the Ensures.
it just seems that it’s the Aymes shakes, they start off tasting just as described then change to what I can best describe as a “plasticy” taste …….. but weird I know but since the treatment started my life has been far from normal
Thanks for the reply.
