Hello again,
I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer (p16 positive) in November, and I have done all the preparation for treatment. I begin on Monday with one day a week for chemotherapy together with daily radiotherapy. Many people have told me about the nasty side effects, but I will deal with everything as it happens. The key thing, I think, is that this thing will be cured, and to focus on that outcome.
Onwards.
Steve

Good evening Steve, im very much like MikeO and echo what he has said, you seem to have a positive attitude towards your treatment which i know from previous experience goes a long way, im sure you will be just fine like the rest of us who have been through various surgeries and treatments, all the best.

Finished my radiotherapy a month ago. Staff at the hospital were fantastic and really did go the extra mile to help out. I would recommend taking someone with you to the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and weekly sessions with the doctor as you get a lot of info and good to have another pair of ears. Keep hydrated, swishing salt water helped avoid mouth ulcers and bicarbonate of soda does help with mucous. One month out of treatment and I am now eating normally but taste is still odd but is slowly getting better. I wanted to know how the therapy works and when I got the info from my doctor it really helped put my mind at rest. Good luck and stick with it. Arch
Hi Arch. Welcome to the community and thanks for sharing your experience. We are all different and we all get there in the end. Well done on getting through.
