Hello again,
I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer (p16 positive) in November, and I have done all the preparation for treatment. I begin on Monday with one day a week for chemotherapy together with daily radiotherapy. Many people have told me about the nasty side effects, but I will deal with everything as it happens. The key thing, I think, is that this thing will be cured, and to focus on that outcome.
Onwards.
Steve
Hi Steve, once you get into your treatment you will feel better about the whole thing, as for the side effects there are many, but you will not get all of them some people are lucky and get very few. Has you have said this is the start of getting cured, the time will go quickly, then you will be on the road to recovery. Any questions or worries just ask on here, we are all here to help each other. All the best.
Regards Ray.

Hi Stoth, it's good you are having a RIG fitted, it will take the worry of not eating, if eating becomes difficult during and after treatment. Don't forget we are all here to help if we can, just ask away on here someone will always help if they can. All the best.
Regards Ray.
Hi Steve, I had the same cancer and treatment plan. My consultant said the treatment will be brutal but I will cure you. The treatment is hard but with your positive attitude you will cope like everybody on this group. Take your meds, and take a day at a time. I finished treatment on the 26th August, PEG out two weeks ago and was told on Monday my cancer has gone. We do get cured. Stick with this forum, there is a font of knowledge on here, good luck to you and everybody else starting your treatments.

Just to add another voice Steve; I was where you are nearly nine years ago now, and I'm still alive and kicking. You'll be OK.
I actually got it again two years ago so they made me better twice! Clever people these doctors

Hi. Hope you don’t mind me asking - what treatment did you go through 2nd time round?
Have a look at Mike’s profile

Not a problem. I actually got through my five years all clear after the first diagnosis/treatment but then got what they called a new cancer (despite me calling it a recurrence in my signature).
It's not a common occurance, I just got lucky, so people shouldn't worry about it over-much.
It was on my larynx so I had just surgery to remove it; no radio option because that's a one-time thing due to damage done. My throat was "re-plumbed" using tissue from my chest, so now I'm what's called a "neck breather", breathing through a hole (stoma) in my neck and I'm unable to speak.
That said I still have a very good quality of life, stoma maintenence is a bit of a faff but I quickly got used to it.
