Fortisip

Hi Sorry to hear about your dad it doesn’t seem enough has he a cns or a Macmillan nurse that you could call ? I was on ensure drinks at 300 calories a bottle abs 6 a day.

When I was using a naso gastric tube for feeding for a short time and was unable to eat my dietician put me on 6 Fortisips  200ml each a day making 1200 ml a day. I definitely maintained my weight during this time which was 63k.g.

You need to be guided by your father's dietician as to what is right for him as there may be other considerations that need to be taken into account which may affect the amount of Fortisip that has been prescribed.

Yes I agree with Hazel- I'm on a PEG tube and taking 5 bottles per day (400 Kcal per bottle). The bottles are 200ml each. are you sure your bottles are only 200 Kcal each?  Speak to his nurse as I was told you need at least 2000 Kcal per day to maintain your weight. x

Good evening Skyedevon, sorry to hear about your dad, i have the small bottles of Ensures called Ensure Compact which i expect Fortisips do the same, they just cram more nutrients into a smaller bottle, i syringe 7 bottles a day because i cannot swallow,each bottle contains 125 ml and 300 Kcal. so it does sound as if he needs to be taking more to boost his intake of nutrition.
