I'm having a RIG fitted next Monday. I have seen the dietician who has gone through everything with me. However, I am very concerned about the amount of sugar in these feeds. She says there no real way around it and it will have to be monitored. I saw the diabetic nurse yesterday who pretty much confirmed that. I have to go back to testing at least x3 times a day, have a weekly HBa blood test and they will shift my drugs around to meet whatever changes are necessary but the last thing I want is a very stable diabtic regime totally messed up. Steroids are a additional nightmare. Can anybody give me some advice on this. My current HBa was 41.
Would appreciate any help. I'm a T2.
Hi. I have a friend who had HNC. She works for one of the nutrition companies. I’ll message her to see if there’s a possible alternative.
You could ask in the “ask a nurse” section too.
There’s always a big possibility that you might not need to use your feeding tube at all or very little so you could maybe purée your normal diet or use a nutribullet or some such
I recall somebody else having a similar problem
I’ll see if I can find their posts

Thank you. Got a nutri bullet and Nonja soup maker but I having problems swallowing pretty much anything.
Good evening Alfienangel, i have brought this up with my dietician about how sweet all these food supplements are but i never got a positive reply. Im not diabetic but I used to drink them, i soon realised they are not good for my teeth. There are savoury flavours available but only about two flavours which are not very tasty. All my Ensures go via my PEG due to swallowing issues but i can still drink cup a soups i.e tomato, oxtail, mushroom, chicken etc as long as they dont have big bits in the even the golden vegetable is ok. Wishing you all the best with your feeding regime, take care.
