Hello everyone just giving a little update. All prep work was done last week and thanks for your support. 2 teeth were moved as advised by orthodontist. This was done in the hospital and totally painless and professional, the worst bit was no tea for 24hours.Then Wednesday i went in for the peg fitting as advised this would be hugely beneficial to my recovery if needed as nutrition is so important. It all went very smoothly and was painless again and they were all so nice and reassuring, stayed overnight to be monitored lots going in the ward so not much sleep. In the morning saw the doctor and the nutritionists we had some more checks and I was shown how the peg worked then I was discharged. 6days passed now the soreness has nearly gone all managed by paracetamol .My first treatment was yesterday 16th Feb Chemotherapy followed by Radiotherapy. I went in feeling very positive and my only thing I could compare it to was a long haul aeroplane flight. Tea soup snack sandwiches yogurts sleep music book reading toilet trips and of course the treatment. The staff were all fabulous. I'm on my way .
Hello Perry, as a fellow wife I feel for you. Also my hubby is now 14ish mths post treatment and doing fine, having to cope with some side effects,I remember our journey as it was yesterday. And like you, once we knew our treatment plan and our first treatment behind us it became easier to come to terms with the situation. So on this note, all the best for the rest of your journey,I hope it won't be to harsh. Hugs Mel x
Good on you Perry, you sound like a strong character and you have come through that awful uncertainty between initial diagnosis and start of treatment.
Yes you are in for an increasingly tough few weeks but you sounds well prepared. In a way you can't fight it, you just have to get through it, one day at a time. Ask for more/different meds if it gets too bad, and take all the support you can get. This forum was so helpful for me when I was in treatment and recovery - stick with us & let us know how you get on.

PS this may seem a bit random but if you have private pension funds or savings and are over 55, look into getting an annuity - you get much better rates with a cancer diagnosis. That was my silver lining!
