Over the past few RT sessions the team have struggled with my pre therapy scan , having to repeat and adjust. Yesterday a total of 4 times. Today the hospital called me to say they are arranging a new mask fitting . The relayed message from my Doctor is everything is going great and the tumour has shrunk so much so fast they need a new mask
Anyone experienced this or heard of this happening?

Hi Jo I’m still here , they didn’t say it was an overnight stay ! It was ok apart from the nose/throat tube , I’m just a bit sore belly wise & also they won’t let me take my usual painkillers , they’ve only given me paracetamol through the drip , my mouth & throat are so painful now , surgeons going to check on me soon to listen to my belly & flush tube so hopefully everything can be taken out then & I can eat & drink xx
My NG tube was in place while I was in hospital after surgery. They kept it in for 4 or 5 days but decided it was causing more of a hindrance than help. I have to admit that eating was incredibly tough - only managed a few teaspoons for each meal and getting all the meds down was awful. It felt like my whole day was taken up trying to get some concoction down.

Hi Aly , yes sadly I was also unable to take my normal pain relief whilst I was in , for the fitting . I think they did eventually cave and allow it as i was in so much pain in my mouth and they just added my medication to their records . I hope you have managed to now get them and are home .
I am having a review with my consultant next Thursday , this is a new addition to my treatment plan and was not an appt I had in before .. this seems to have resulted since I had my new CT scan yesterday . Hoping for some positive news - may be it is to discuss changes and how they are moving forward

Oh jo I’ve got to stay overnight, something else they didn’t tell me , so frustrating about the medication , then they will say you’re not eating much , I have told them I need meds to eat , all I’ve had all day is paracetamol & oramorph so painful mouth & belly , can’t wait to get home .Jo I hope it’s all good news for you next week , I can’t wait now xx
Wow , so you will have been in 2 nights for yours ? They must allow you to take pain relief for your mouth - I know mine was so angry as i hadnt had any relief that day as I was told nil by mouth and I was unsure if that meant medication . I can see no reason why you cant now it is fitted . Just shows how rushed my procedure was
Yes , I cant wait either , waiting a week to find out is frustrating tho

Yes they wanted me to stay yesterday & that was just for bloods but in the end I asked could I go home after if it’s just for bloods , she said yes then came in today & have to stay anyway , apparently the dietician & rig people are going to show me how to use it , I hope it’s AM & not PM with this sore mouth xx
