Over the past few RT sessions the team have struggled with my pre therapy scan , having to repeat and adjust. Yesterday a total of 4 times. Today the hospital called me to say they are arranging a new mask fitting . The relayed message from my Doctor is everything is going great and the tumour has shrunk so much so fast they need a new mask
Anyone experienced this or heard of this happening?
Jo

Hi jo
perhaps it’s because you have lost weight. I never lost weight I gained it!!! Just my luck lol they said I may need a new mask because of that ( my feed put a stone in weight on me in 2 weeks)!!!
that’s great news about the tumour shrinking in such a short time !!! Maybe just maybe won’t won’t need radiotherapy for as long??! Xx

Haha indeed it is Hazel! My hunch was it was my weight-loss I couldn’t really grasp how the tumour size would affect the mask fit but then , what do I know x
Hi Aly , Nausea is a lot calmer today - I have managed a slow munch through 2 meals today . I was issued some nausea medicine for prolonged chemo sickness but fingers crossed I may not need it . My mouth is still dry but not got any drier - eating wet food with sauces helps a lot , spaghetti bol went down well oh and the oralieve they gave me helps at night too -
Oh that is good news , I was worried about you getting all that on your first week , you’ve got the weekend off now Jo so enjoy & try to eat as much birthday cake as you can , even if it takes you hrs , have it with some custard & cream to make it go down easier
trouble is you will need another mask then xx
Hi Elaine
That theory would seem more feasible to me as I have lost weight - I think so much went on in the past week my anxiety soared, that alone makes weight drop off me , then chemo nausea made it impossible for me to want to touch food .
I like the sound of shortened RT , I wonder if that ever happens .
Hope you are making progress too

Hi Jomsadly I’ve never heard of anyone having less radiotherapy it’s a tried and tested route the oncologist and radiotherapy magicians work together. But it’s common for the last chemo to be cancelled if that helps.

Jo it’s to be expected I’ve still got all of it to come , at least you know your routine , my tube is going in on the 4th I think as I have to go in overnight on the 3rd then I’ve got another little wait for treatment ( 9th) you are already ahead of me , I hope you don’t get any more set backs now & you can get on with it , won’t be long now Jo xx
