Hi all,
Does anyone know what the procedure is to have a Peg Feeder Tube removed, and is it painful?
Hi John and welcome.
The PEG is just pulled out. It’s a little uncomfortable but that’s all. I didn’t have one so asked a friend who did.
How are you doing after treatment?

Thanks Beesuit,
All's good at moment. Had final scan and get results on Feb 17th so fingers crossed.
The radiotherapy and chemo was absolutely brutal so my heart goes out to those going through it.
Hope you are well and Thankyou so much for the support and advice you have given me through my journey.
I can't express enough how much anxiety you and the others on here have saved me and countless others from suffering by sharing your experiences.
God bless
Hi John,
I remember the dietician wasn't too happy about me asking to have it removed as I wasn't back to eating enough. I insisted in the end as I wanted to get back to work and get on with my life. I swapped it for Fortisips until I could eat more myself. It was so simple to remove and not painful in the slightest. Good luck with your recovery.

Oh, you had a rig in the tummy not a peg in the nose? Same thing applies regarding eating independently. You can feel it coming out but to be honest if it's causing you discomfort then you'll be relieved when it's removed. Just keep cleaning the area well.
Hi John, yes I had a peg removed and as Dani said it is just a bit uncomfortable, I didn’t like the thought of it so was a bit worried but the nurse literally just told me to wiggle my toes (to distract me) and then pulled it out, it didn’t hurt just felt a bit odd for a second or 2, hope this helps
So glad to hear you’ve got through.
We are all here to help each other. Fingers crossed for your scan. You’ve got this.
