Hi I’m 5 weeks post op maxillectomy reconstruction of radial flap to palate and Neck dissection.
How long does it take for the numbness and stiffness to settle?? I’m doing exercises and massage. I’ve also gone quite deaf in the ear on the side of the neck dissection as well as being numb, very odd feeling
thanks
Hi Ian Welcome from me as well I too am a glass half full girl as well. Positive mental attitude got me through as well. Doesn’t work for everyone as a good friend of mine says miserable ones get through as well.
Aha! That’s me
That’s what I say. Even miserable people get cured

Ale for me rather than lager! I find the lager generally too "sharp" for my throat now. You're right that sometimes help is needed with some foods. A great excuse :-)
Hi ER1
I also had a neck dissection, once the stitches were out and the scar healed, I began and still do rub Bio Oil into the area and massage well. My ear was numb for ages, I used to joke that if it was cut off, I wouldn't feel it. Several months on the feeling has come back, and with exercises the stiffness subsided. It was a really odd feeling, but it does get better
Hi Ian
Great to have you on the forum. Your contributions will be very much appreciated by others I'm sure.
Good to hear you're managing the effects of your treatment.
All the best.

How are the melatonin gummies working out Dani? Are they making a difference? Trusting all is well with you, M
Hi Mark. Progress report. A month if Melatonin at night and aloe vera in the morning and I’m off PPIs and feel 200% better. I do have to have the odd slurp of Gaviscon Advance now and again. I’m reintroducing trigger foods and so far so good.
