Just recently there have been a number of discussions about returning to work. This resource may be of help to those considering what to do regarding employment after treatment.  I think that many of the tips are also useful in a more general sense regarding returning into the wider social community.  I hope this helps someone Slight smile

Back-to-Work Guide for Head and Neck Cancer Patients | Mouth Cancer Foundation

  • Just wanted to say thanks for sharing this. Its really relevant to me, i have been working  remotely (i am perfectly capable of doing so)

My boss wants me to work back in the office full time, and ill admit that as my colleagues have refused the vaccine and there are no distancing measures anymore, and i still have issues with my neck its made me nervous.

Will read it now, thanks again.

  • Hi Peter,

Although I went back to work a long time ago it's good to have this guide to refer to if needed. Very informative.

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

Thanks for sharing. Really useful. I managed 3 weeks mainly WFH before the holidays and trying FT from September. The few days I had in were useful to explain how things need to be accommodated.

Glad we are keeping most of the Covid practices in place. Apprehensive about being in contact with so many people (3 year groups weren't there in July). Have spoken to GP about flu jab and covid booster. Will still be wearing a mask when near people. Understand your concern Trev, especially when I see the holiday pics and socialising of colleagues on social media!

  • Same here ronny - i dont want to get political though so will keep my opinion of anti vaccine people to my self.

Its good to know my rights however as i am under a lot of pressure from my employer right now to return full time to the office.

  • Hi Fi. Great to see you here ( if you know what I mean) How are things going these days?

  • Hi Dani,

Thanks for asking. Still plodding along. I'm on holiday from work and already into my 4th week. I go to see the ENT consultant on Friday after waiting for months for this appointment. I'm hopeful they'll operate in the near future to open my nasal airway with a stent to enable me to breathe through my nose, smell and taste again.

It has been pretty miserable losing these senses and has affected my mood. Eating is such a chore/effort at the best of times so I now just eat yoghurt and rely on my fortisips.

The immunotherapy is going well - round 15 next week and remaining stable at the moment.

I hope all is well with you.

I hope you can get your nose sorted. We don't realise how much of eating is down to our nose.

  • Thanks.  Planning on going back to work at the start of September, working from home. Our HR ream aren't very good so I'll give that a thorough read.
