Pet scan

I’ve just had my first pet scan to determine what’s where etc. but am a bit worried - in the last 4 weeks, I’ve had two moles removed, both requiring 8 external stitches and four internal dissolvable stitches which are still there. I also had a gynaelogical procedure and endometrial biopsy 4 days ago and am concerned that scarring and activity in all these three different areas may be interpreted wrong on the scan. Can anyone help/ease my mind?

  • Hi Maam and welcome to our little community. I don't know if you are in the right section but I'll help as much as I can. The radiologists interpreting your PET/CT are well trained in differentiating malignant lesions from activity caused by inflammation. The two are usually quite easy to interpret if you've had the training. The scan is not looked at in isolation but with your medical history so please try not to worry.

I hope everything goes well for you

    PS. Edit

I see you have been diagnosed with NHL and you've been talking to Mike
