Hi
Just entering my 5th week of treatment. 5/6 chemos and 20/35 RTs done.
When diagnosed my lymphnodes were staged as 2b, and although the consultant knew that it had spread he said he couldn't be very precise about where despite having a PET scan.
So yesterday I had a painful and noticeable lump appear in my neck and was sent for an ultra scan today. The radiographer said it looked like cancer due to shape and size but it could be bigger as a result of the treatment or something new and he'd double check with the PET scan to see if there was a hotspot there at the time of the scan.
Has anyone else had anything similar during treatment? Could it be a 'new' ?
Thanks
J
Hi sorry I can’t help with the extra lymph node swelling. Perhaps someone will come along with a similar story. I think you have to leave it up to the experts but I have never heard of another cancer popping up in the treatment area during actual treatment.

Hi J, I tend to agree with Dani about the cancer not returning during treatment, an ultra scan is not the best for obtaining results so hopefully the scan will determine the reason for the lump appearing as i have never had a tumour appear over a matter of days, so it could be the treatment causing this or a blockage. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome, take care.
