I had my 1st session of Cisplatin on Monday and have been experiencing severe sickness and diahorrea. After a few changes of meds this seems to be under control however I have no energy. The thought of eating is still a bit rough but can anyone recommend good foods to eat that will settle in the stomach but be good for me too. I need to start building up my energy levels and feel so tired all the time x

many thanks

Lisa

  • Hi Lisa Unfortunately there is no simple answer Cisplatin is known to cause aversion to food and everybody experience it in a different way So if your throat is not too sore you can experiment with everything you like Or liked before as any food you eat while getting a session, ohhh, you might hate it for a very long time afterwards I was doing research by trying to smell everything If I was able to tolerate the smell I tried to eat it Then tried to hold it there Wink

  • Hi lisa.
can you eat eggs I found poached eggs east to eat plus good on proteins   Soggy weetabix or porridge in s morning plus ready break. It really  us s case in first week of eat what you can as it can get harder as time goes on and you get further into treatment. Have you been given ensure it fortisips yet they do help you maintain weight? Just try and eat what you can. I have a blog details below with  links to others it may help.

  • I'm on week 2 of Cisplatin.  Weetabix are currently my friend.  I'm just about to have a Calshake with ice cream, that the dietitian gave me. They're 600 calories on there own.
