Foul taste in mouth

Hi Julie. You could try a liberal application of biotene gel after you’ve brushed your teeth. The foul taste lasted quite a while with me but it went eventually. Just another brick in the wall you have to climb over. Macmilan have a list of ph neutral saliva sprays I’ll see if I can find it.

I used AS saliva Orthana for  a while. Quick spray whilst half asleep.

I had this for a very long time, for me it was like an intense amount of salt was permanently stuck in my throat.

Lots and lots of water sips helped me along with constant saliva sprays- i appreciate the saliva production is ok for you though.

Thanks, will try and up the water see if it helps. Just cant work out what my taste is, i suppose towards the sour end of things, not that it helps to know but just wierd!!

Like Dani, I found Biotene worked really well to counteract that awful taste although I used the mouthwash - still do.

Over half way there and chemo done and dusted. You sound like you are doing really well!!

 I only had a horrible taste when trying to eat foods like yogurt and ice cream for some reason and other things such as strawberries and grapes just taste like salt. I haven’t had any problems with taste while sleeping though just a very dry mouth so I am going to look at the sprays that have been suggested.

 I hope you continue to do as well in your final RT sessions

I’m using a feeding tube as I’m totally repulsed by the taste of any food except coffee. Am grateful for the latter. Good luck. Tough process to go go through.

Salt is def kicking in. Salty apple juice is so wierd!! Time to swap drinks I think!!
