Factor 50 sunscreen

This will sound daft but when I was in Cuba I used children's factor fifty sun cream from asda

It smells like ice cream and took a while to soak in but

It was really cheap and the sun didnt touch me despite spending all day in incredibly strong sun

Thank you for that. I never knew about the Nivea link with Cancer Research. I’ve used Nivea creme daily on my face for the last 40 years or so and still swear by it. I’ve just clicked on and read the link, thank you for that. Looks good, let’s hope we have a good spring and summer, we all so need it.

Hi TrevW, well that makes so much sense, if it’s made to protect our little ones delicate skin then it’s obviously well tried and tested. Another good suggestion, I bet Cuba was interesting.

Anything without a perfume

In Australia we have a jingle that goes ‘slip,slop,slap, slip on a  shirt, slop on some sunscreen and slap on a hat.’

So don’t just put on the sunscreen but make sure that you cover up with a shirt and a hat as well even on the beach.

I use sunscreen from the Cancer Council which is 30 SPF but they also make 50 SPF. It is 4 hours water resistant and needs to be reapplied every 2 hours.

I reckon if the Cancer Council recommends it then it must be O.K. so I would look for something recommended by the U.K. Cancer Council.

I too buy children’s factor 50 - from Morrison’s. It’s way cheaper than the adult stuff and has to do the same job. 

Thanks Linda, I’ve always used Nivea as my face moisturiser, so will give the sunscreen a go as well as a children’s version. Going to have to start using it more now not just on foreign holidays in the sun.
